Sunday Friends empowers families in need to break the cycle of poverty. Children and parents earn basic necessities while they contribute to their community, learn life skills and develop self-sufficiency.
Sunday Friends provides a structured, opportunity-rich environment for very low-income families to give back to their community while they meet their basic needs and develop self-sufficiency for the long-term. There are no free handouts at Sunday Friends; families earn the basic necessities they receive by participating in activities that teach skills in English fluency, financial literacy, academic education, health and nutritional awareness, and more. This approach of earning, instead of traditional charity, builds self-confidence in families and brings out the best in each person. Programs are designed to foster the growth of developmental assets in children. The involvement of the parent ensures that the practice of positive life skills will continue throughout the weeks.
