Our Mission:
Autism Empowerment is dedicated to making life better and more meaningful for children, teens, adults and families in the Autism and Asperger communities worldwide. We serve all ages and abilities and promote Four Foundational Pillars of Positivity: Accept, Enrich, Inspire and Empower.
Our vision is an engaged Autism and Asperger’s community that connects people with meaningful programs, fun events, useful services, support resources and with each other. It is a place where individuals can be accepted for who they are and inspired to give to others.
About:
We are a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in Vancouver, WA in June 2011 by a family with 3 of 4 on the autism spectrum and the 4th with dyslexia. Our programs and services extend nationally and internationally. Our Board Members live in Vancouver, WA, Mountain View, CA and Wasilla, AK.
Some of our programs and services include: Autism Empowerment Radio (podcast), Autism and Scouting / Autism and Scouting Radio (podcast), Autism Empowerment Community Outreach (Southwest WA and Portland, OR metro currently but we wish to expand), trainings at schools, support groups, agencies and corporations, an
Annual Easter Egg Hunt for Acceptance of All Abilities and Resource Fair (big volunteer opportunity - in 2013, we had over 110 volunteers and served over 1100 egg hunters with autism or other special needs), workshops and panels. We are building an Autism Serves Volunteerism Program and an Autism Mentors program that we hope to launch in 2014. Come join us! We believe that we are ALL ambassadors for acceptance in our community!
