The mission of DrawBridge is to provide expressive art programs for homeless and other underserved children in an environment that fosters creativity, joy, self-confidence and hope.
The mission of DrawBridge is to provide art programs for homeless and low-income, underserved children in an environment that fosters their sense of joy, creativity and exuberance. DrawBridge offers unconditional positive regard to children, and a safe and stable space where they can express themselves without judgment. They are allowed to simply be children, to play and do what they want, without worrying about the basic struggles of daily life. We bring our art programs into homeless shelters, emergency shelters, safe houses and low-income housing facilities to give kids a chance to express themselves, relieve their stresses, and have some fun. Each weekly group is overseen by a facilitator and a volunteer. We have programs in 22 sites around the Bay Area, mostly weekday evenings. We ask for a six-month commitment in order to maintain stability and familiarity with the children we serve.
